Newsletter Week 6 Term 1 2024
Principal’s Message
Dear parents and carers.
It is hard to believe that we have reached the end of week 6. The term is really flying by.
We are always looking for ways to improve school and home communication. It is important to us that we work in partnership with parents and carers. Communication between home and school is key to this.
We recognise however that it can often be difficult communicating with teachers because they have a very full timetable; and that parents and carers also have very busy lives.
We will always work to get back to your enquiries within a reasonable timeframe. We aim to do this within 3 working days. If your matter is urgent, we will get back to you as quickly as possible.
Staff welcome the opportunity to meet with parents/carers. This occurs both formally and informally. As a parent/carer if you have an issue or concern it is always best to raise this as soon as possible with your child’s classroom teacher. Following on from that, you are always welcome to speak with the school executive.
If you do have a query or concern, we hope the below information will help you to find the correct person to contact.
Have a lovely long weekend.
Kind Regards
Laurel Rodrigues

EAL/D Meet and Greet
GWS Giants Visit
On Friday 1 March we were lucky enough to be visited by Ryan Angwin, Jack Buckley and Lachlan Keeffe from the GWS Giants. There was a buzz around the school for the entire day. The Giants players shared some stories about their careers and students asked them some great questions. Probably the most exciting part was getting Ryan, Jack and Lachlan to sign their autographs and kick the footy around with us on the oval.
We wish the Giants the best of luck this season.
Netball Gala Day 2024 Yr 5/6
On Thursday last week, the year 5\6 Netball Gala day was held.
It was an open tournament that SchoolSport A.C.T. invited us to compete in, and was held at Deakin Netball Courts. Over 30 students competed.
Those 30 students were split into 3 teams, one competitive and two non competitive. Team one (competitive) played seven games in which they versed schools such as, C.G.S, St.Bedes, St.Benedicts, C.G.G.S, Holy Trinity Schools and more. Team 2 (non competitive) and team three (non competitive) versed the same teams but this league had no ladder and more players who haven't played Netball before.
Team 1 finished with 3 wins and 4 losses, Team 2 also won 3 and lost 4 and Team 3 won 4 drawed 2 and lost. Overall the day was excellent and went very well, also thanks to Ms. Kowalski and Ms. Durnin who set up the Netball Gala day and were the supporting teachers.

Wild @ Art
On Tuesday the 27th of February, 24 of our senior students represented Forrest at the official opening of the Wild at Art Australian Conservation Foundation Art Competition Exhibition.
The students listened to speeches from Tanya Plibersek, the Federal Minister for the Environment and leaders in conservation. 5 of our students, Sasha, Skye, Sofia, Sarah and Georgette, confidently gave engaging speeches to the large audience about their experience in the competition.
A number of our students were also interviewed on camera for Voc Pops and shared their amazing knowledge about animals and conservation. It was a fantastic morning and everyone left feeling inspired, hopeful and proud of the work they had done
The students who attended were some of the school finalists from last year's competition, with each student returning to school inspired to try new ideas and push themselves for this year's competition. I will share more information with you as we get closer to the time.
Yours in creativity,
Nikki Sneddon and Belle Kowalski
