Forrest Newsletter 2025 Term 2 Week 2
Message from the principal
Welcome back! We hope you had a lovely break over the school holidays and were able to have lots of quality time with your children. In the final newsletter last term, I highlighted the importance of uniform. Our school colours are red and yellow with grey being an alternative for the bottoms and dresses. Please remember to label everything, everything (!), and if you are in financial hardship, please contact the front office, team leader or myself and we will be happy to help you.
Year Six furniture
Last year our wonderful P&C coordinated fundraising for alternative furniture for the Year Six area. This has now arrived and the children love it! Thank you for your support in fundraising for the school, being part of the community and giving the best to our children.

ANZAC Day Assembly
We really appreciated the parents who were able to join us for the ANZAC Day assembly on the first day of term. This is a hugely significant day in Australia as we can commemorate those who have served our country to keep Australia, and the broader world, a safer place for all. Some have paid the ultimate sacrifice, and we should honour them for the protections we receive in our country.
Thanks for your support
A huge thanks to the families who supported me in the marathon and for the posts on the WhatsApp groups. It’s an honour and a privilege to serve this community.
Year 6 Camp
In Week 1 of Term 2, our Year 6 students set off on an unforgettable three-day, two-night adventure at Jindabyne Sports and Rec. Despite the chilly weather and a bit of rain, everyone embraced the experience with enthusiasm and resilience.
Our days were filled with a range of exciting activities that challenged us to think creatively and work together. We navigated puzzles and dashed through the maze, testing our problem-solving skills and sense of direction. During initiatives, teamwork was essential as we tackled challenges that required patience, strategy and plenty of communication. A definite highlight was the sliders, where students mastered skids and even pulled off 360
spins, much to the cheers of their friends.
We also learnt circus skills, juggling, balancing and spinning with surprising flair. Survival time saw us building, maintaining and cooking on fires, learning how to work together to create warmth. Things got competitive during archery tag, with teams facing off in thrilling battles that tested our aim and agility.
Our evenings were just as lively, especially at the Jindy Night Markets. Students set up their own stalls, encouraging friends and teachers to try their games or get a makeover. Overall, Year 6 camp was a brilliant way to kick off the term. It was a few days packed with laughter, learning and lasting memories. We are incredibly proud of the way our students braved the elements and embraced every challenge.
Well done, Year 6!

Year 2 Peace Excursion to Reconciliation Place and Nara Peace Park
This week, our Year 2 students ventured out on an excursion to Reconciliation Place and Nara Peace Park. As part of our Sharing the Planet unit of inquiry, we explored themes of peace, understanding and reconciliation through self-guided exploration of the beautiful artworks scattered throughout these significant locations.
The students loved discovering the sculptures and installations at Reconciliation Place, learning about Australia's journey towards peace and the importance of acknowledging our past. Through thoughtful discussion, we reflected on how our nation is continuing to work towards a positive and inclusive future.
At Nara Peace Park, the tranquil surroundings provided the perfect backdrop for a picnic. Inspired by what they had seen, the children then created their own artworks, expressing their thoughts and hopes for peace. It was a truly inspiring day, filled with learning, reflection and creativity. Year 2 returned with a deeper understanding of peace and the role we all play in building a better future.
